Slovakia’s competitiveness this year has neither improved nor worsened. According to the results of the annual Global Competitiveness Report 2013, Slovakia placed 47th of the total of sixty assessed countries and its ranking remained unchanged from the year 2012. “One of the reasons why we remained on the same spot is that we have not been able to implement any significant measures,” said the director of the F.A. Hayek Foundation, Matúš Pošvanc.
“It is necessary to remember that in 2007-2009 Slovakia belonged among some of the most highly competitive countries but it failed to keep this position over the years,” Pošvanc from the F.A. Hayek Foundation pointed out. “Compared to its closest neighbours, Slovakia placed behind Poland and the Czech Republic and this year it has outperformed Hungary.
