Regular flights between Bratislava and Kosice are likely to be restored, with the support of state subsidies offered by the Transport and Construction Ministry, Transport Minister Jozef Raz Jr. (Smer-SD nominee) stated in a video posted on a social network on Wednesday.
"Specifically, the Transport Ministry will offer subsidies for two flights. We'll launch an open call to enable airlines to vie for our support vis-a-vis Goteborg-Kosice flights. This direct flight connection is our commitment stemming from an international contract on the establishment of a Volvo facility. And the second flight connection, which Slovakia has sorely needed for a long time in our view, is the Bratislava-Kosice flight," explained Raz.
A direct flight between Kosice and Bratislava, operated by Ceske Aerolinie, was scrapped in January 2019. (TASR)
