Slovakia sells bonds for almost EUR 1.3 billion

Slovakia borrowed a total of EUR 1.27 billion through the auction of four bonds with different maturities. This was significantly more than in the previous auction in November last year, when it borrowed EUR 471.5 million. Given the high demand and the resources raised, the Ministry of Finance said it is satisfied with the auction in question. Analytic Martin Kocis from Slovenska Sporitelna bank agrees that the outcome is positive, considering the downgrade of Slovakia’s rating by Fitch agency in December.

Inflation in Slovakia is expected to slow down more significantly this year. From last year's double-digit values, it should fall to 3-4%, economic analysts predict in reaction to the data on inflation by the Statistical Office, The average inflation was 10.5% in the last year.
