The national cultural heritage organization Matica Slovenska was put under the microscope on Monday, as deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media criticized it during Monday’s scrutiny at the public-service institution.
Among the issues highlighted were the unresolved case of the national treasure, the organisation’s financial problems, and an absenting budget for this year and the crisis in the perception and the mission of Matica Slovenska by the public. Chairman of the organization Marián Tkáč claims that Matica Slovenska has to take out a loan to survive this year.
