This year, Slovakia is celebrating 31 years as an independent nation. It is also 15 years ago Slovakia adopted the euro as national currency. And it‘s the 20th anniversary of membership in the EU, and in NATO.
Foreign Affairs minister Juraj Blanar said that membership of these institutions brings significant benefits that people are often not even aware of in everyday life. But, he said: Our membership is only of real benefit if we do not forget our national sovereignty. (TASR)
