The government's priorities this year will be to maintain the standards of a strong social and rule of law system, and to complete changes in the penal system. This was announced by Prime Minister Robert Fico on Facebook. He said the previous administration used criminal law to persecute political opponents, and he wanted to change that.
Fico also said, in a separate interview with the news agency TASR, that food prices would be high on his list of priorities. He wants to lower food prices by subsidizing farmers and food processors. He said this was a form of state support allowed by the EU. (TASR)
