21 artillery shells to mark the national holiday

Soldiers of the Slovak Armed Forces fired 21 artillery shells from the Danube embankment on January 1, the national holiday, to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the Slovak Republic.

The members of the 54th artillery detachment from Rožňava took care of the execution of the act. The ceremonial volleys were fired from 122 mm HD-30 howitzers.

The firing of ceremonial salvos is traditionally done on the occasion of important protocol activities and national holidays, such as the Day of the Establishment of Slovak Republic.
