During the Christmas holidays, on Monday and Tuesday, record-breaking temperatures were accounted by some Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute stations. These were the warmest days in the measurement history of these stations. The rising temperatures, rain and snow melting, however, are significantly affecting the hydrological situation in Slovakia. Flood warnings are in force for several districts. Most of them are in effect until Wednesday. According to the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, the situation is complicated especially in the western half of Slovakia.
