The current Special Prosecutor, Daniel Lipsic, gave a press conference on Monday together with several of his deputies. He said the proposed changes will mean the end of important prosecutions, because they will lapse under the new statutes of limitation.
He also objected to shortening the prison terms for various offences.
Justice Minister Boris Susko said the proposed prison terms were in line with those in other EU countries: “We are not going anywhere beyond other countries by dramatically lowering these rates.“
