Slovakia has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 44 percent since 1990. This is in a report submitted by Slovakia at the COP28 UN conference on climate change in Dubai. The decline is attributed to stricter national laws, a change in the structure of industry, and a change in consumer behaviour. The Environment Ministry estimates that the country will be able to reduce CO2 emissions further in the next six years, by 55 per cent.
