Unemployment down further

Unemployment down further
The unemployment rate has continued its two-year-long decline.

The third quarter of this year saw a small drop, 0.2 per cent, making it the ninth quarter in a row. In terms of unemployed among the economically active population, the rate now stands at 5.9 percent.

The number of unemployed went down in five of the eight regions of Slovakia. The biggest improvements were in Nitra and Zilina regions. The highest unemployment persists in Presov and Kosice regions.
Meanwhile, salaries are catching up with inflation. The latest figures show that thanks to pay raises and slowing inflation, the real wages – after inflation – were still down compared to a year earlier, but only one half of a per cent.
