The Slovak Union of truck drivers has changed its mind and announced it would block the main border crossing with Ukraine, at Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod, from Friday December 1.
It follows actions of the Polish truck drivers whose blockades of Ukrainian borders have caused kilometres-long traffic jams at the border crossings.
Both countries‘ drivers are protesting the preferential treatment for Ukrainian transporters. They call their free passage through the EU unfair competition.
The Slovak UNAS union has invited the CESMAD Slovakia association of road hauliers to join the blockade.
