At a commemoration of the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising in Bratislava President Andrej Kiska praised the courage of the direct participants of the uprising.
He noted that they participated voluntarily and must have known of the great risk they were putting themselves into. Bratislava region Governor Pavol Frešo stated that the struggle for freedom and democracy never ends, which also could have been seen during the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in August 1968 and the Velvet Revolution that overthrew the Communist regime in November 1989.
