Russian Defence Minister Sergej Šojgu is coming to Slovakia on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising. Head of the Slovak diplomacy, Miroslav Lajčák is planning to talk to him about the situation in Ukraine and make sure to tell him what Slovakia’s official stance on the matter is.
As Lajčák says, Slovakia is firmly behind the stance of the EU. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on numerous occasions his discontent with the sanctions of the EU on Russia, which could have a negative effect on Slovakia. Foreign Minister Lajčák claims that while this is true, the Slovak Republic is in no way against the sanctions or is blocking them and will make sure to tell this to the Russian Minister.
