Lajčák sends condolences to Japan over landslides

Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák sent a telegram of condolence to his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida on Tuesday in response to the recent landslides in Hiroshima which claimed the lives of dozens of people. This was announced by the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry press department announced on Tuesday.

“I received with deep sorrow the news about the ongoing landslides in Hiroshima, which have claimed numerous lives, and with many people still missing”, said Lajčák in the telegram, expressing his hope that the rescue teams will manage to minimise the damage caused by the natural disaster. According to the latest reports, at least 60 people have been killed by the landslides, with at least 26 people still missing. Moreover, the danger of further landslides in the region persists.
