Prime Minister Robert Fico says the Government plans to revisit the current Free Access to Information Act. He confirmed this at the Slovak Towns and Villages Association (ZMOS) congress in Nitra on Tuesday. The chairman of the association Jozef Dvonč believes it's a great idea and is ready to support it.
“We're not against the transparent publishing of information. An open administration represents a fundamental prerequisite for quality communication at the regional level. However, we need to prevent certain forms of bullying and abuse of this law,” added Dvonč. According to Fico there is no reason to worry about the misuse of the system. “ I proclaim that the Government has an interest in providing access to all necessary information.,” said Fico adding that his Government is bold enough to open up this legislation.
