Former diplomat and ex-foreign affairs minister Ivan Korcok says he has collected the necessary 15,000 signatures so he will run for president, he said at a press conference on Tuesday. He said that among other things, he wants to focus on the issue of patriotism, which has either disappeared from people's consciousness or is highjacked by politicians.
"Modern patriotism is a topic to which I subscribe," he said. It is an theme that could be used to unite society, not divide it. The presidential election is in August next year.
