Universities should be stricter, says PM Fico

Prime Minister Robert Fico and the Minister of Education announced their priorities for the coming years. Fico said he thinks secondary schools should adapt their programs more to the needs of the labour market. He also said admission standards for universities should be stricter. "I don’t think universities are for people who don’t get passing grades at school.” He also wondered out loud whether universities don’t have too many different specializations.
At schools, he thinks holidays should be used to “strengthen some kind of healthy patriotism and self-confidence. In this spirit, education could play a relatively significant role.”
