Car manufacturer Volkswagen Slovakia produced 222,970 vehicles in the first half of this year, which is the plant's best result in its 23-year history. “Despite intensive preparation work for the new Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne, we managed to keep production at stable levels in the first half of the year”, said VW SK board chairman Albrecht Reimold.
Revenues totalled €3.3 million between January and June, thereby going up by 1 percent year-on-year. The French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen has also reported an increase in production, reaching 150,000 cars. The South Koreans from Kia Motors haven’t revealed their figures yet but stated their Slovak plant in has fulfilled its production target. Analysts, however, forecast a modest second half of the year, partially because of the modernisation plans of some producers and partially because of caution caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
