New PM: We will be constructive, not avoid challenges

In his inaugural address, Fico said his government would be constructive, and will not avoid any challenges.

"I wish that at the end of this government's tenure, we'll all be able to state not just numbers, but the fact that life in Slovakia is better and Slovakia is calmer. I make this promise in front of the entire Slovak public.“

He said the government has never faced such bad socio-economic indicators, poverty and ruined finances in Slovakia's modern history.

In parliament, Peter Pellegrini, the leader of the second party in the colaition,  was elected speaker of the house as expected.  Pellegrini received 131 votes from the 150 lawmakers.
