Slow economic growth this year and next

The Slovak economy is expected to grow by 1.4 percent this year, and its growth should slightly accelerate to 1.9 percent in 2024. This is the consensus of analysts from selected banks, which are published every month by Slovakia's central bank.

Compared to previous forecasts from September, they didn't significantly change their estimates. The analysts expect inflation, as measured in consumer prices, to come out at 11.3 percent this year.

Next year, inflation should drop significantly to 5.2 percent. Salaries more or less keep up with inflation, they expect: this year nominal salaries will rise 10 percent, next year it should slow down to about 7.5 percent.  Analysts expect the unemployment rate in Slovakia to be 5.9 percent at the end of this year and at a similar level of 5.8 percent in 2024.
