The new parliament was sworn in today. The leader of the second-largest coalition party, Peter Pellegrini of Hlas, is expected to be chosen as Speaker for the parliament. In the afternoon, the President will formally appoint the new coalition government of Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The outgoing speaker, Boris Kollar, said to parliament: "Approach your work with humility, with balance, as the country is not in the easiest of times. Be a support for the citizens of the Slovak Republic. Do not spread malice or hatred, on the contrary, look for goodness, understanding and consensus."
