Čachtice Castle and its history interwoven with the story of Elizabeth Báthory, known as 'the Blood Countess', have caught the eye of CNN Travel website. This has published an article on the topic of the 400th anniversary of Báthory's death, on 21 August.
The author of the article John Malathronas actually visited the newly reconstructed castle, which is largely in ruins, with the support of the Slovak Tourism Board (SACR). He also saw a number of other sites associated with the story of the noblewoman, who is said to have bathed in the blood of her virgin girl victims in order to maintain her youthful appearance.
