The winner of the parliamentary election Robert Fico, leader of the SMER party, on Tuesday handed his list of candidates for various ministries to the President. There has been speculation that President Zuzana Caputova might dispute, or perhaps even block candidates; the big question is whether she will do so, or is constitutionally allowed to do it. Her spokesperson said "The president will familiarise herself with the nominations and subsequently announce her next steps."
Mr Fico has said he will not reveal the names of his favourite candidates before he has presented them to the President; his coalition partners, Hlas and SNS, did present their names earlier in the day.
