Coalition and opposition get ready

The parties who will form a new government, Smer, Hlas and SNS, are scheduled to sign a coalition agreement at one o’clock Monday. This is a purely ceremonial act. The leader of SNS, the smallest party, Andrej Danko, said on television Sunday that the distribution of ministerial posts was 80 percent agreed.

He also said there would be no objections to Michal Simecka of PS (Progressive Slovakia) becoming vice-chairman of Parliament. Traditionally, that post goes to the largest opposition party.

Simecka said on Sunday he would lead a ”very active and professional“ opposition. „We don't want to pursue aggressive, vulgar opposition politics."
He also mentioned that his party would be keen to get chairmanship of the committee to oversee the Slovak Intelligence Service.
