The average nominal salary in August rose in yearly terms in all ten sectors monitored, with the growth rate reaching double digits in seven of them, the Statistics Office has reported. According to preliminary results, salaries in almost all of the sectors outpaced inflation. Real salaries increased in yearly terms in nine sectors, dropping only in the IT and communication sector. The most significant increase was observed in restaurants and catering activities, in which the average nominal salary grew by 17.5 percent to reach €726. Meanwhile, nominal salaries in wholesale increased by more than 12 percent to €1,432.
Real salaries increased at the steepest rate in restaurants and catering activities, namely by almost 8 percent, while growths amounting to 3 percent were observed in wholesale and construction. In other sectors, year-on-year real salary growth ranged from 0.1 percent in accommodation services to 2.4 percent in retail.
