The caretaker Cabinet at its session on Wednesday approved the draft general government budget for the 2024-2026. The document reads that measures amounting to 6.6 percent of GDP, or €8.5 billion, would have to be taken if Slovakia was to achieve a balanced budget as soon as next year. The government was obliged to prepare such a budget and submit it to parliament with regards to the high level of general government debt. However, it currently finds it to be an unacceptable option and views its submission just as the fulfilment of its duty set by law.
