Almost half of Slovaks believe that Ukrainians have received too much help from Slovakia. According to a survey conducted by the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV), citizens also believe that the aid should be time-limited. The survey also revealed that Slovaks harbour concerns that "deliveries of arms to Ukraine only prolong the war".
"We identified solidarity fatigue in the respondents' replies, which can be attributed to several factors. It could be economic pressures, political factors but also the influence of the media," stated social psychologist Jana Papcunova of SAV. She added that contributing to the fatigue towards refugees are economic problems and the political campaign in Slovakia as well. The survey was conducted in August on a sample of over 1,800 respondents.
