Slovakia to help Ukraine clear mines

The Slovak army will train Ukrainian soldiers in mine clearance. Slovakia is to join the Coalition to Support Demining in Ukraine. Its formation was announced by the Lithuanian Defence Minister in July. Ukraine is currently the most heavily mined country in the world. Soldiers find five mines per square metre. According to Defence Minister Martin Sklenar, the Slovak Republic's armed forces carry out such training quite often. He added that mine clearance is not only for combat, but above all for the restoration of peaceful life and economic development of the country after liberation. Ukraine faces several problems on the front line. One of them is the lack of demining equipment. Slovakia's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to NATO, Peter Bator, stressed that this was essential for Ukraine to be able to advance through the Russian defences.  Slovakia has already sent ten Bozena demining machines of different generations to Ukraine.
