Former president Ivan Gasparovic and other personalities have called on senior citizens to vote in Saturday's (30 September) early parliamentary elections. They said they felt that Slovak seniors were becoming more marginalised in the run-up to the elections. They disagree that as senior citizens they have no say in the direction of Slovakia. In addition to the ex-president, the appeal was signed by Anna Bergerova, a participant in the Slovak National Uprising, Jozef Golonka, a former athlete, Viliam Fischer, a cardiac surgeon, Michal Kotian, the chairman of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia, and Lubomir Paulovic, an actor and director, Jan Lipiansky, President Emeritus of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia, Tatiana Sedová, an educational researcher, Anton Siekel, President of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee, and Martin Halas from the Institute for Research on Socio-economic Risks.
