Today is the 175th anniversary of the first Slovak National Council. It was established in 1848 as the supreme body of the national emancipation movement of the Slovak nation in the then Austro-Hungarian Empire. The day of the establishment of the Slovak National Council is also an official commemorative day of the Slovak Republic.
