A mission from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has arrived in Slovakia to assess the preparation and conduct of the upcoming general election. The seven-member mission will observe the election in terms of compliance with international obligations and the rule of law. They will pay attention to the implementation of electoral legislation and the balance and independence of the media environment. After the election, the mission will prepare and publish an assessment report, including possible recommendations to the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to address any identified shortcomings. The election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 30 September. A total of 24 political parties and one coalition of parties are running.
