People at risk should consider getting vaccinated against COVID-19 in the autumn, as recommended by the Chief Hygienist of the Slovak Republic, Ján Mikas, and the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. An increase in acute respiratory diseases is expected during the flu season. Nationwide measures are not planned for the time being. As part of the vaccination strategy for autumn 2023, 29 vaccination sites will be available across the country. The Department will publish a map of these vaccination sites on its website. From Thursday (21 September), people will be able to make an appointment for vaccination through the National Centre for Health Information (NCZI). From Monday (25 September), appointments will be available without an appointment. Currently, the Public Health Office is registering an increase in the incidence of COVID-19, with the prevalence of the omicron XBB and XBB.1.5 sub-variants in Slovakia.
