At the Venice Film Festival 2023, the Orizzonti category Award for the best film was granted to a Hungarian film “Explanation for everything“ in Slovak co-production. The Slovak Audiovisual Fund in co-operation with filmtopia and several Hungarian companies launched a story of a high school student at his final exam in history. In his speech, the director Gabor Reisz underlined how important international support for independent Hungarian cinema is at this particular moment, hinting at insufficient support for artists critical of Viktor Orban’s policies.
