Fewer Russians and Ukrainians visit Slovak spas

Slovakia's spas have noticed a drop in the number of clients coming from both Russia and Ukraine since the outbreak of the conflict in the latter country, and they are afraid that the new sanctions will only make the situation worse in the upcoming peak season, according to a report from the Pravda daily on Thursday. “The situation in Ukraine has weighed on us quite significantly.

Last year we had around 550 Russian-speaking people here. The main season is between September and October, so we'll see what the state of affairs is then”, said Pavol Balcárek from the spa in Rajecké Teplice. Bardejov Spa told the daily that the number of Russian and Ukrainian guests has fallen by around 10 percent so far this year, and it expects that the disparity will have grown larger by the end of the year. The spa noted that although the largest numbers of foreign visitors come from the Czech Republic, guests from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are next in line.
