MPs held a ceremonial meeting in Bratislava on Friday. The session took place to mark the anniversary of the adoption of the Slovak Constitution. Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar stated that the Slovak Constitution should form the basis of the country's stability, and it shouldn't be changed too often. Kollar added that the Constitution guarantees basic rights and freedoms and should serve to unite, not divide people.
It isn't enough to celebrate the Slovak Constitution only one day a year; above all it should be observed 365 days a year, stated President Zuzana Caputova on the occasion of Constitution Day on Friday.
"Many people consider to be constitutional only that which is correct from their point of view, and everything else with which they disagree is considered unconstitutional. If I were asked what change our Constitution needs, I'd say, therefore, that most of all it needs a change in how we approach. Don't interpret it according to who is currently in what position of power and what suits you at that moment," stressed the head of state.
