The implementation agreement with the Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) power utility on guaranteed 2024 electricity prices is within reach, Prime Minister Ludovit Odor declared on RTVS's discussion programme 'Five Minutes to Twelve' on Sunday.
"I expect the implementation deal to be signed before the election, with the price guaranteed across-the-board for everyone," stated Odor, who emphasized that only a component part of the price will be guaranteed, however. "There's going to be some overall price increases, but nowhere near the level mentioned in its fearmongering statements by the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries."
A more complicated situation will be seen with gas prices, as Slovakia is reliant on gas imports. Odor stated that the current Government plans to prepare alternative and more targeted solutions for the next cabinet.
Odor added that the pace at which the European Funds are drawn has sped up significantly under his Government. When the caretaker cabinet took over, Slovakia ran the risk of losing up to €800 million and the Government planned to cut that figure by half. "Now it seems that this goal is doable," he said.
