A total of 39 Slovak firefighters from the ground-based forest fire extinguishing module, together with 14 pieces of firefighting equipment, are leaving for Greece to help put out fires, the Firefighter and Emergency Corps (HaZZ) posted on a social network on Tuesday.
"The Slovak Republic has responded to Greece's request to send a ground firefighting module using vehicles to help extinguish forest fires. Slovakia's offer was accepted by Greece this afternoon," said HaZZ.
Forest fires in the north of Greece haven't been brought under control for several days and have required the evacuation of residents from several villages in the affected area.
