During an unannounced inspection, Public Ombudsman Robert Dobrovodsky measured a temperature of 30.9 degrees Celsius in one of the police cells in western Slovakia. He warned that such conditions posed a risk to the health of cell inmates and could also constitute a violation of human rights. The ombudsman called on the police and the Ministry of the Interior to remedy the situation. Dobrovodsky said that he measured a temperature of up to 30.9 degrees Celsius in one of the cells at 8.43pm. Although there was an open window, the cells were sweltering and there was no air circulation. He noted that poor air circulation combined with hot air and too many prisoners in a single cell could pose a health risk.
