77.4 percent of Slovaks are of the opinion that the government should step up investment from the budget in sport, with as many as 46 percent convinced of this, a recent poll carried out by AKO agency on behalf of television channel JOJ 24 has shown. Conversely, 18.3 percent of the respondents opined that sport deserves less investment from the state, with almost 7 percent convinced about this opinion.
Supporters of increasing investment in sport were most often voters of Hlas-SD, Smer-SD, the Slovak National Party, Sme rodina and Progresívne Slovensko. They were also people predominantly of older age, living in Košice, Prešov, Banská Bystrica and Trenčín regions. The survey was carried out on a sample of 1,000 respondents between July 24 and July 28.
