Slovakia is set to help flood-hit Slovenia by providing four heavy crawler excavators, making it among the most valuable partners in terms of scale of assistance, according to the Interior Ministry. The machinery will be dispatched along with five workers of the Slovak Water Management Company (SVP), which owns the excavators.
"As water managers, we are attentive and sensitive to the current situation in Slovenia. Offering help to our counterparts in the Union is a natural expression of our solidarity and professional honour, as the element that we work with on a daily basis knows no national, political or linguistic boundaries," noted SVP general manager Ladislav Glinda.
According to information from the European central monitoring and control centre, two thirds of Slovenia's territory has been directly affected by floods and their consequences. Slovenia has already been aided by Germany, France and Croatia.
