Pensioners do not like the pre-election rhetoric

Before the parliamentary elections in September, the generational division of society is growing. In an open letter to the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Ľudovít Ódor, the chairman of the Pensioners' Union of Slovakia (JDS), Michal Kotian, stated this. He expects the Prime Minister to express respect for the importance of the votes of the elderly in the same way that he appeals for the participation of young voters. The Prime Minister responded that all age groups of the population are important to him.

Kotian criticizes the one-sided focus of the Prime Minister and the government on young voters when inviting them to participate in the elections. "Increasingly, we get the feeling that we, the seniors, no longer have anything to decide on the direction of our country after the elections and that the votes of young people and Slovaks from abroad will be important. It is also your rhetoric, Prime Minister, which contributes to this. This deepens the further division of Slovak society, instability and tension," pointed out Kotian.

All age groups of the population are important to the Prime Minister, his spokesman Peter Majer responded. "When calling to vote by mail from abroad, the Prime Minister had everyone in mind, regardless of age," he added. According to Ódor, he plans to intensify calls for participation in the elections as the term approaches.
