In total, 4,613 Slovak businesses, of which 74 are joint-stock companies, 3,656 are limited liability companies and 728 are run by individual businessmen are guilty of tax evasion, according to data collected by Dun & Bradstreet consulting agency at the end of June.
The highest number of companies guilty of tax evasion, 1,601 to be exact, is registered in the Bratislava region. Next comes the Trnava region with 637, and the Nitra region with 549 such companies. Conversely, the lowest number of such companies is registered in the Trencin region, with only 229 of them. In terms of individual districts, the three with the highest percentage of companies guilty of tax evasion are all registered in the Banska Bystrica region. They are the districts of Brezno with 3.31 percent, Lucenec with 3.14 percent, and Poltar with 2.99 percent of such companies. The most common fields of business of such companies are transport, and consulting services focused on business and management.
