Had a general election taken place in late July, it would have been won by the opposition Smer-SD party on 19.9 percent of the votes, a poll carried out by AKO agency for TV Joj 24 revealed on Tuesday.
Smer-SD would have been followed by extra-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia (PS) on 16.4 percent and the extra-parliamentary Hlas-SD party on 15.2 percent.
Other parties that would have made it into Parliament were: Republica - 6.7 percent, SaS - 6.6 percent, Sme rodina - 6.1 percent, the Christian Democrats, KDH - 6.0 percent and the Slovak National Party (SNS) - 5.8 percent.
The coalition of 'OLANO and Friends', Za ludi and the Christian Union parties would have failed to make it into parliament, as coalitions need 7 percent to do so and it would have only garnered 6.7 percent. Also left outside Parliament would have been the ethnic-Hungarian Alliance party and Democrats on 2.2 percent (each), the Modry, Most-Hid on 1.5 percent and LSNS on 1.2 percent.
When converted into seats in the 150-member House, the allocations would have been as follows: Smer-SD - 36, PS – 30, Hlas-SD - 28, Republic and SaS - 12 (each), Sme rodina and KDH - 11 (each) and SNS - 10.
