The oldest candidate running in September’s upcoming early parliamentary election is 90-year-old Ladislav Lysák, on the slate of the Republika party, the Slovak Interior Ministry reported. On the other hand, the youngest are seven 21-year-old candidates. In terms of the average age of all its candidates, the youngest party is the non parliamentary Progresívne Slovensko (average age of 41), whereas the oldest is the Communist Party of Slovakia (average age of 58).
As for the parliamentary parties, the youngest is the Sloboda a Solidarita (average age 44) and the oldest is Smer-SD (average age 52). The early parliamentary election will be held on September 30, 2023 and contested by 25 political parties. Slovak citizens who will be abroad on Election day still have time to apply to vote by post until August 9 here on the website of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry.
