The Republican Employers Union views the current state of the energy crisis as unsustainable for domestic companies, as their production is becoming more expensive when compared to foreign competition. According to the union, this forces many domestic producers to optimize their labor forces, change or reduce working time, or move some of their production away from Slovakia.
In France and Norway, energy-intensive companies pay around €40 per megawatt-hour of electricity, while in Slovakia, the current spot price amounts to approximately €115 per MWh.
Economy Minister Peter Dovhun stated that one of the ministry's priorities is to prepare alternatives for the gradual decarbonization and transformation of Slovakia for the new government formed after the September elections. In connection with compensation for increased energy prices, he mentioned eight compensation schemes.
