A shortened working time is to be introduced in U.S. Steel Kosice, the largest employer in eastern Slovakia, at the end of July and in August. "The company discussed with trade union organisations the decision not to assign work due to an obstacle on the employer's side between July 24 and August 31," said the company’s media relations manager Lubomira Soltesova. "The decision is related to the reduced use of production aggregates in summer," she said. The range of obstacles will be determined by relevant team leaders with respect to operating needs. Employees will receive 60 percent of their pay on days on which they stay at home.
