The commitment to spend at least 2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on defence is in Slovakia's vital national interest, said Defence Minister Martin Sklenar following his return from the NATO summit in Vilnius. He noted that Slovakia has neglected its defense buildup for years, resulting in a significant deficit. Sklenar asserts that security is essential for any nation's existence.
