The Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) has issued a travel warning for citizens of Slovakia. It warns against travelling to troubled areas in thirteen countries around the world, among them also the neighbouring Ukraine.
“SIS strongly warns Slovak citizens against so-called adrenaline and adventure tourism to crisis areas with ongoing military conflicts and tensions”, stated SIS spokesman Branislav Zvara. According to him, Slovaks should reconsider travelling to Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, Israel and the Gaza Strip, Yemen, Kenya, Libya, Pakistan and Syria. In regards to the ongoing armed conflict and fighting between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian troops, SIS recommends not to travel to regions in the east and south of Ukraine. However, if people do travel to Ukraine, SIS recommends Slovaks to avoid areas with increased tension.
