The Judicial Council will elect three candidates for the Slovak judge position at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg. The election is scheduled for September 19, and eligible entities can nominate candidates until August 31. The current Slovak judge at the ECHR, Alena Polackova, will conclude her term on December 28, 2024. In June 2024, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will select a new judge for Slovakia from a list of three candidates provided by the Slovak government.
